Training Report - Kenashi Pass 20We are almost in April. It's very rare you can ride on snow in this period of year. But this time, a cold wave of record level struck Hokkaido. So we came to the Kenashi Pass to enjoy the last training on snow of this season. Dr.K and K participated in this training. It was minus 11 degrees Celsius at the Kenashi Pass and the travelled distance was 36.39km. From time to time, it was snowing hard. We were hoping to see the sunset but had no chance. From time to time, the visibility goes down. K's new tail lamp he was using since Mt.Asahidake is really bright. The snowfall ceased just for a brief moment. Dr.K detatched from K in the first descent. K passed the Second Kenashi Pass first. Dr.K passed there 1 minute 6 seconds later. K arrives first to the summit of the Kenashi Pass. The gap increased further by 10 seconds. The summit of the Kenashi Pass. We began to descend. K is easily increasing the gap. Dr.K is struggling with a bad condition of the road surface. K is gaining the advantage. Dr.K is running behind. The time gap is 2 minutes 33 seconds. K arrived first to the foot of the mountain. Dr.K arrived there 3 minutes 23 seconds later. Subsequently, we headed for Kiroro Skiing Resort. K won the climb to Kiroro Skiing Resort. Dr.K arrived 2 minutes 57 seconds later. The main building of Kiroro Skiing Resort. K won the descent to the foot of the mountain by a minute 30 seconds time gap. After dining in Akaigawa, we head back for Otaru. We didn't ride seriously in this climb. We climbed the mountain talking. The road surface condition became better. Approaching the summit. Just few hectometres to the summit. K arrived slightly first. Dr.K arrived soon. K arrived first to the Second Kenashi Pass as well. The weather improved and under the Moon light, you can distinguish the contour of mountains. Dr.K arrived soon. We could see the mountains behind thanks to the moon light. K is descending manoeuvring the headlights (cf. Mt.Teine 11). He won the descent but he didn't gain much advantage of usual.
