Off-Season Training Report - Shiretoko Pass (Trans-Shiretoko Highway)Special guest Panman and K participated in this training. It was 30 degrees Celsius at Utoro, the foot of the mountain and 21 degrees Celsius at the Shiretoko Pass. The Trans-Shiretoko Highway cross the Shiretoko Peninsula where the world natural heritage site Shiretoko National Park which is located. The culminant point of this route is the Shiretoko Pass of which the altitude is 780m. It's not a high mountain pass. However, because of severe meteorological condition of winter, the Shiretoko Pass is above the tree line. Therefore, you can enjoy superb view from the pass without being blocked by trees. This day, we climed from the Utoro side. The Mt.Rausu (Mt.Rausudake) is beautiful. The Mt.Rausu (1661m) is the culminant point of the peninsula.
