Training Report - Mt.Tokachidake (Mt.Tokachi) 35
K participated in this training.
It was minus 13 degrees Celsius at the Tokachidake Hot Springs (Tokachidake Onsen).
The travelled distance was 16km.
We are in the spring. The snow is almost gone at the foot of the mountain. The road surface was dry below the altitude of 700m when he commenced his training. Therefore, he started his training at the altitude of 900m. The snow on the road is well compacted. The road surface state is good. It's easy to climb. However, in the final approach to the summit, passing the last haipin bends, south-east winds became super-strong. So huge snow drifts were formed. There were three huge snow drifts and he couldn't pass over those snow drifts riding the bike. He walked and pushed the bike to pass over those snow drifts. It's blizzard. Winds are really strong. Just after arrived to the summit, the wind direction changed from south-east to north. He did sprint training several times at the summit. He descended up to the altitude of 1100m. The second climb and the sprint training. During the second climb, he could pass the snow drifts riding the bike. During the second descent, crashing into a snow drift, he almost lost control. But he could regain the control. He descended up to the bifurcation which is situated at the altitude of 1000m. Now he is heading for the Fukiage Hot Springs. He descended up to the Hakugin Gate. The route for Bogakudai and the Shirogane Hot Springs is closed during the winter as it passes avalanches zones. He is heading back. At the summit of a small hill. He did sprint training at the maximal power up to the summit. During the sprint, he once almost lost control because of a rut but he could regain control. He is descending up to the start point. |
