Training Report - Bogakudai 2K participated in this training. It was minus 21 degrees Celsius at Bogakudai. Before the start, the thermometer was indicating minus 11 degrees Celsius at Shirogane Hot Springs. So he estimated the equipment for minus 15 degrees Celsius would be enough for this day's training although he knew the temperature was going down because of the radiative cooling. Usually the temperature doesn't go down a lot at a high altitude when the radiative cooling occurs. However, he miscalculated. The temperature went down a lot during his climb. Moreover, the most of the route of this day is in the shade of the Mt.Tokachidake during about 2 hours after the sunrise. Therefore, the temperature lowers even after the sunrise.
The moon is still shining.

The temperature went down more than expected.
The freezing-point depression beverage has been frozen earlier
than expected because of this low temperature.

Crossing the Kibo Bridge, the temperature went down considerably.
He has similar experience during Bogakudai just when crossing the same bridge.
About 1K from this bridge, the temperature was extremely low and the same thing is happening this time.
His face has now tingling sensation because of cold air from the mountain.
In normale condition, it doesn't happen during the climb.
It means the temperature is extremely low, around minus 21 - 22 degrees Celsius.
Here is probably the path of the cold air from the mountain.
During Bogakudai,
he felt the same light wind of the same direction which runs down the slant of the mountain.
As this kind of wind is called "katabatic wind", he named such area "KTV (katabatic valley)".
His gloves do not provide sufficient insulation against this super cold katabatic wind.
He should have brought equipments for minus 20 degrees Celsius.
The smoke of the Mt.Tokachidake which is an active volcano reflects the shade of the Mt.Tokachidake itself.
The water in the air freezes in a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius.
The speedmeter's surface is frozen because of the water of expiration instantaneously frozen.
Seeing the Mt.Asahidake, he enters the most cold section.
Hard rime is beautiful.
Approaching the bifurcation.
The smoke still reflects the shade of the Mt.Tokachidake.
The route to the Fukiage Hot Springs and the Tokachidake Hot Springs is closed due to the snow since this October.
Rime is developped on the surface of snow.
Looks like white blanket.
Arriving at Bogakudai of which the altitude is 930m.
He did sprint training several times at the summit.
During this training, the sun came out of the Mt.Tokachidake's shade.
The Mt.Tokachidake.
He descends up to the Airin Bridge. View is magnificent between the Airin Bridge and Bogakudai. Therefore, he's going to ride this section once again.

We have here the best view of the Mt.Bieifuji and the Mt.Bieidake.
He made a U-turn and headed back for Bogakudai.

Extremely beautiful hard rime.
He continues to climb between trees covered with hard rime.
The Mt.Tomuraushi.
As the last climb to the Bogakudai is very steep (about 16 percent),
he did sprint training several times before reaching the last uphill.
As he doesn't need to descend long distance, he doesn't wear the ski goggles for the descent of this sprint training.
After doing the sprint training several times, he climbed up to the summit: Bogakudai.

Now he is descending up to the foot of the mountain.
